Web design in Morocco
in Arabic and French

A website, webshop or app for your business in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Tangier, Fez or Agadir: Arabic and French as full languages, with online payment through CMI and cash on delivery, and easy to find on Google in both languages.

Smart Design is a web agency from Haarlem in the Netherlands, with a team whose native language is Arabic. We build custom with Laravel and Vue, with your own admin panel, and work fully remotely through video calls. Morocco and the Netherlands are almost in the same time zone, so we work the same hours.

From the Netherlands, close to Morocco — and to the Moroccan community in Europe

The Moroccan market

What a Moroccan website needs

In Morocco customers switch between Arabic and French, many buyers still prefer to pay on delivery and a large share of visitors arrive through mobile and WhatsApp. A good site is built for that.

Arabic and French

Arabic right-to-left and French left-to-right, both complete, with English added if you also serve tourists or foreign clients.

Cash on delivery

Confirmation by WhatsApp or phone before shipping, shipping fees per city and an overview of what each delivery company has collected.

Card payments through CMI

Online payment with Moroccan and international cards through the CMI payment platform, with a contract through your own bank.

Tourism and riads

For riads, guesthouses, excursions and restaurants: multilingual pages, enquiry or booking forms and WhatsApp contact.

Found in two languages

Keywords in Arabic and French, with separate pages per language that Google recognises properly, and a business profile per branch.

WhatsApp at the centre

Orders, questions and confirmations via WhatsApp, while everything is stored neatly in your admin panel.

Two languages, one site

Arabic and French, both done properly

In Morocco, being bilingual is normal. Many businesses communicate professionally in French, while customers speak Darija at home and also search online in Arabic. Yet many Moroccan websites are only good in one language: the French version is polished and the Arabic is a quick translation, or the other way round. That costs trust and visitors.

We build both languages as complete versions. Arabic gets a true right-to-left layout with proper Arabic fonts, French its own left-to-right layout, and every page has its own address per language so Google can show both versions separately. You manage all texts yourself per language in the admin panel. If you also serve tourists or foreign business partners, we add English; for customers in the Netherlands or Belgium, Dutch can be added too.

What we build in for you:

  • Separate address per language, for example /ar and /fr
  • A language choice that is remembered
  • Legal details such as RC and ICE numbers in the footer
  • Prices in dirham, VAT included
  • All texts editable yourself per language

One platform, several languages

  • yourcompany.ma/ar — العربية
  • yourcompany.ma/fr — Français
  • yourcompany.ma/en — English (optional)
  • Prices in MAD
  • CMI · cash on delivery
Online payment

Card payments through CMI

For online card payments in Morocco, the Centre Monétique Interbancaire (CMI) is the standard route. You sign an online payment contract through your own Moroccan bank; customers can then pay on your site with Moroccan bank cards and with international Visa and Mastercard cards, secured with 3-D Secure. Payments arrive in dirham in your Moroccan account.

Mollie and iDEAL do not work in Morocco, so we connect your site directly to the CMI payment platform. We handle the technical integration, test payments, failed payments and refunds, and make sure every order’s status is updated automatically in your admin panel. Next to CMI you can offer cash on delivery and bank transfer, so the customer chooses. You arrange the application and contract with your bank yourself; we help with the technical details the bank asks for.

  • Moroccan bank cards, Visa and Mastercard through CMI
  • Secured with 3-D Secure
  • Cash on delivery as a fixed option
  • Bank transfer for business customers
  • Prices and payments in Moroccan dirham

Orders & delivery

Cash on delivery, without lost parcels

Anyone who sells online in Morocco knows it: a large share of customers only want to pay once the parcel is at the door. That makes ordering easy, but without a proper system, confirmations, refusals and settlement with delivery companies quickly get mixed up. Many sellers work with a team that confirms every order by phone.

We build that way of working into your webshop. Every new cash-on-delivery order enters a confirmation list; your team confirms by WhatsApp or phone and records the result with one click. Only then does the order go to the delivery company. You set shipping fees and delivery times per city, from Casablanca and Rabat to smaller towns. Where a delivery company offers an API, we create shipments automatically; otherwise you export a list. And you see per delivery company what was delivered, refused and collected.

  • Confirmation list with status per order
  • Shipping fees and delivery time per city
  • Automatic shipments where an API is available
  • Overview of amounts collected per delivery company
  • Flag customers with many refusals

A bridge to Europe

Reach customers in the Netherlands and Belgium too

The Netherlands and Belgium are home to a large Moroccan community, and we work there every day. For many Moroccan businesses that community is an important customer group: think of real estate and property development, wedding wear and events, travel organisers, crafted products and services people arrange for their summer visit.

We know both sides. We can extend your site with a Dutch version, write copy that matches how Moroccan Dutch and Belgians search, and make sure enquiries from Europe come in properly through WhatsApp and forms. If you also have a company in the EU, we can add European payment methods such as iDEAL and Bancontact through Mollie, next to CMI for your customers in Morocco.

  • Dutch or French version for customers in Europe
  • Enquiries from Europe labelled separately
  • WhatsApp contact with international numbers
  • iDEAL and Bancontact possible with an EU company

Two markets, one team

We are based in Haarlem, work for business owners across the Netherlands and Belgium, and speak Arabic as a native language. That lets us connect your Moroccan business with customers on both sides of the Mediterranean.

An honest comparison

YouCan or Shopify, or a custom platform?

Ready-made platforms such as YouCan and Shopify are popular with Moroccan sellers and often a good start. A custom platform pays off once you need more than a standard shop.

A ready-made platform fits when…

  • you are just starting and want to test your product first
  • you have one language and a small range
  • you want to go live quickly for a fixed monthly fee
  • you need no custom integrations or app

A custom platform pays off when…

  • Arabic and French both need to be complete
  • you have your own confirmation team and several delivery companies
  • you have wholesale and retail prices or customers in Europe
  • website, app and back office must be one system, with your data

Not sure? We look together at what you need now. Sometimes the honest advice is to stay on a platform for now; we then help you move later, including products and customers.

Visibility & apps

Being found in Casablanca, in two languages

Moroccans search in French, in Arabic and sometimes in Darija written in Latin letters. A dentist in Casablanca, a riad in Marrakech or a furniture shop in Tangier therefore needs to be findable in several ways. We research keywords per language, write dedicated pages per service and per city in each language, and use the right technical settings so Google does not mix up the Arabic and French versions. We set up your Google Business Profile per branch, so you appear in Google Maps in districts such as Maârif, Gauthier or Agdal.

For shops, restaurants and service businesses with regular customers we also build Android and iOS apps, connected to the same database and admin panel as your website. Apps start from €3,500, depending on the features.

  • Keyword research in Arabic and French
  • Separate pages per language, service and city
  • Google Business Profile per branch
  • Fast pages that perform well on mobile
  • Android and iOS apps from one code base

Hosting & privacy

Law 09-08 and secure hosting

In Morocco, Law 09-08 governs personal data protection, with the CNDP as the supervisory authority. Depending on what you process, a declaration to the CNDP may be required. We only ask for the data you need, publish a privacy policy in Arabic and French and choose fast, secure hosting with you.

  • Privacy policy in Arabic and French
  • Daily backups
  • SSL and a secured admin area
  • Access rights per staff member
Domain name

A .ma or .com domain

A .ma domain shows straight away that you are active in Morocco. Registration usually requires a Moroccan company or trademark. If you also want to reach customers in Europe, a .com alongside it is useful. We arrange both with you.

  • Domain always in your company’s name
  • Business email on your own domain
  • .ma and .com pointing to the same site
  • DNS, SSL and email fully arranged
How we work

Working remotely, during the same hours

We have no office in Morocco, but the same working rhythm: the time difference is at most an hour or two, and often zero in winter. Meetings take place by video, in Arabic, English or Dutch.

01

Video kick-off

We discuss your business, your languages, your delivery and your customers in Morocco and possibly Europe. You then receive a clear quote and schedule.

02

Design & build

You approve the design in Arabic and French; we build the site and connect CMI, delivery companies and your confirmation process.

03

Launch & warranty

After testing everything goes live, we submit both language versions to Google and train your team on the admin panel. A three-month warranty follows.

FAQ

Questions about web design in Morocco

Yes. We are based in Haarlem in the Netherlands and work fully remotely, through video calls. Morocco and the Netherlands are almost in the same time zone, so we are available during your working hours.

Yes, for Moroccan sites that is the rule rather than the exception. Both languages become complete versions with their own address, and you manage the texts per language yourself. English or Dutch can be added.

You request an online payment contract through your Moroccan bank. We connect your site to the CMI payment platform, test everything and make sure payments appear automatically in your admin panel.

Yes. Cash on delivery is a fixed option, with a confirmation list for your team, shipping fees per city and an overview of what each delivery company has collected.

Yes. We work in the Netherlands and Belgium every day. Where needed we add a Dutch version, write copy for the Moroccan community there and, if you have an EU company, European payment methods such as iDEAL and Bancontact.

A standard website is usually live within 10 to 20 working days; a webshop with integrations or an app takes longer, and you receive a schedule up front. We invoice in euro and you pay by international bank transfer.

That depends on the features, integrations and number of languages. After a short call you receive a quote with a fixed price and no hidden costs. Only apps have a starting price: from €3,500.
