Smart Design builds websites and webshops for businesses in Alkmaar and the north of Noord-Holland: custom-made, fast, easy to find in Google and available in Dutch, English and Arabic.
Our office is in Haarlem, a short drive up the A9 or a direct train ride away. So we simply come to your business in the city centre, in Overstad or on the Boekelermeer business park, or you visit us.
Alkmaar is the regional centre of the north of Noord-Holland. On Fridays in season, the cheese market on the Waagplein draws visitors from home and abroad, while the Langestraat, the Laat and the canals attract regular customers from Heiloo, Bergen, Castricum and Dijk en Waard all year round. A good website has to serve both groups: the tourist searching on a phone for a place to have lunch, and the local resident who wants to know whether you are open on Saturday.
The city also has a solid business side: installers, transport companies and wholesalers on the Boekelermeer, healthcare around the hospital, and many freelancers working from home. Those businesses do not need a pretty brochure online, they need a site that brings in enquiries. That is what we build for.
What we focus on:
Smart Design · for Alkmaar
Office: Roordastraat 47, Haarlem Meetings at your place in Alkmaar, at our office or online.
Every sector in the city has different visitors. That is why every project starts with the question of who your customer is.
Around the Langestraat, the Laat and the Houttil you compete with chains and online stores. Your own webshop with in-store pick-up keeps customers with you, even when they order from home in the evening.
Phone repair, bike shops, garages: customers search in a hurry and choose the business that shows price, timing and address straight away. Requesting a repair or booking a slot online makes the difference.
Whether you work in Alkmaar, Heerhugowaard or Schagen: a site with project photos, your service area per town and a quote form that asks for measurements, timing and photos.
For companies on the Boekelermeer and in the region: a B2B webshop with customer accounts and custom prices, or a portal that links to your stock or accounting.
A menu that reads well on mobile, online booking for your salon or practice, and a clear look that gives new customers confidence.
For B&Bs, canal tours and beach businesses in Bergen and Egmond: a bilingual site with booking requests, seasonal rates on request and photos that convince visitors.
People in Alkmaar often search beyond the city itself: "plumber Heiloo", "hairdresser Bergen" or "webshop design Alkmaar". Google then shows a map with three businesses first. To appear there, your website needs to be technically sound and make clear which towns you serve.
We build every site with local SEO at its core: fast loading, a clean structure, structured data with your address and, where it makes sense, a page per service or town. No tricks, just a solid foundation.
What you can do yourself:
Searches from the region
Many shops in Alkmaar have sold well in town for years, but notice that customers increasingly look online first. With your own webshop you keep those customers: they see your stock, pay with iDEAL and pick up their order in store or have it delivered in the region.
We build custom webshops with Laravel and Vue, with Mollie for payments and an admin panel where you manage products, stock and orders clearly. No platform fee on every sale, and the code and domain are yours.
Haarlem and Alkmaar are a short distance apart, with a direct train connection and the A9 between them. A first meeting at your business is no problem, and for small questions we simply call or message.
We work for businesses across the whole region around Alkmaar. If you are further away, we work together online just as well.
Every website is custom-built with Laravel and Vue. You get your own admin panel where you edit texts, photos, opening hours and products yourself, without plugins that suddenly stop working after an update.
If you want more later, we build on the same foundation: a webshop, online booking, a customer portal, a link to your accounting or an app for iPhone and Android. And your site can be in Dutch, English and Arabic from day one, with Arabic properly right-to-left.
