Websites, webshops and apps
for the Gulf states

A fast website, webshop or app for your business in Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain or Oman: Arabic first with English alongside, the local payment methods your customers use and WhatsApp as a direct line to your sales.

Smart Design is a web agency from Haarlem in the Netherlands with an Arabic-speaking team. We build custom with Laravel and Vue, with your own admin panel in Arabic and English, and meet by video call in your time zone.

The Gulf market

What a Gulf website needs

Customers in the Gulf mostly order from their phone, expect Arabic of real quality and want to pay with the local card from their own bank. We design for that from day one.

Arabic first, English alongside

An Arabic version that runs fully right to left with carefully chosen fonts, plus an English version for expats and business visitors.

Local payment methods

KNET in Kuwait, BenefitPay in Bahrain, NAPS and Himyan cards via QPay in Qatar and OmanNet in Oman, alongside Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay.

A local domain

A .qa, .kw, .bh or .om address shows you are genuinely active in that country. We check which conditions apply and handle the registration.

Selling through WhatsApp

In the Gulf, many sales start with a WhatsApp message. Buttons with a ready-made message per product or service bring the customer straight to you.

Google Maps & Arabic SEO

Arabic keywords the way people actually type them, a well set-up business profile and pages per city or district, so you appear on the map and in search results.

Apps for iOS and Android

Smartphone use in the Gulf is among the highest in the world. Your own app for ordering, booking or loyalty connects to the same admin panel as your website.

Qatar · Doha

A website for your business in Qatar

In Doha, hotels, restaurants, real estate offices and clinics compete for an international audience: Qatari customers, a large expat community and business visitors. A site therefore has to be equally strong in Arabic and English and load fast on every phone.

For online payments, customers in Qatar often use their local debit card. Through the QPay gateway they pay with NAPS cards and with Himyan, the national debit card of the Qatar Central Bank. On top of that we connect credit cards and Apple Pay through a payment provider active in Qatar, with the merchant contract in your company’s name.

What we set up in Qatar:

  • Arabic and English version, both fully editable
  • NAPS and Himyan cards via QPay, plus credit cards
  • A .qa domain or a .com with Qatar-specific pages
  • Bookings or quote requests via WhatsApp
  • Google Maps profile for your location in Doha

Checkout in Qatar

  • NAPS debit card via QPay
  • Himyan, the national card
  • Visa and Mastercard
  • Apple Pay
  • Amounts in QAR
Kuwait

A Kuwait webshop with KNET

Kuwait has a lively online trade in fashion, perfume, cosmetics, food and gifts, and many shops started on Instagram. Once they grow, they want their own webshop with stock management, delivery zones per governorate and orders that no longer get lost in private messages.

KNET is the payment method Kuwaiti customers use most: paying with the debit card from their own bank. We connect KNET through a gateway licensed in Kuwait, such as Tap or MyFatoorah, together with credit cards and Apple Pay. Cash on delivery is still common in Kuwait, so you can offer it next to online payment.

  • KNET, Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay
  • Delivery costs per area and governorate
  • Cash on delivery as an extra option
  • Orders forwarded straight to WhatsApp
  • Stock and orders in one admin panel

Bahrain · Manama

Online and visible in Bahrain

Bahrain is compact: customers from Manama, Muharraq and Riffa are close by, and visitors from Saudi Arabia arrive across the King Fahd Causeway. Restaurants, cafés, salons, clinics and estate agents mainly win there with strong visibility on Google Maps and a site that builds trust at first glance.

In Bahrain, customers like to pay with BenefitPay and with their local debit card through the Benefit network. We connect those methods through a payment provider that supports Benefit, alongside credit cards and Apple Pay. A .bh domain is also open to businesses from outside Bahrain.

What we set up in Bahrain:

  • BenefitPay and Benefit debit cards
  • Online table reservations or appointment booking
  • Pages that also speak to Saudi visitors
  • Google Maps profile with opening hours and photos
  • A .bh domain with business email

Checkout in Bahrain

  • Visa and Mastercard

A website for your business in Oman

Oman is growing in tourism, hospitality and retail, with Muscat at the centre and Salalah, Sohar and Nizwa around it. Hotels, tour operators, restaurants and shops need a site that serves both Omani customers and international travellers, with clear information, photos and a quick way to book.

Most bank cards in Oman run through OmanNet, the national network of the Central Bank of Oman. We connect OmanNet debit cards through a local or regional gateway, such as Thawani or another provider licensed in Oman, alongside Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay. A .om domain comes with local requirements; we check those with you up front.

  • OmanNet debit cards, Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay
  • Booking forms for hotels and tours
  • Arabic and English pages per destination
  • WhatsApp for quick questions from travellers
  • Help with the requirements for a .om domain

Who we build for in the Gulf

Each industry needs different features. These are the projects we see most often in the Gulf region.

Hotels & hospitality

Rooms and packages in two languages, a straightforward booking request and a gallery that shows the atmosphere.

Restaurants & cafés

A digital menu, online ordering for pickup or delivery and reservations, with payment by local card.

Retail & webshops

Fashion, perfume, abayas, electronics or gifts: a webshop with stock, delivery zones and local payment methods.

Real estate

Homes and office space with filters by area, price range and type, and a WhatsApp button on every listing.

Clinics & salons

Treatments, doctors or specialists per department and online appointments, with attention to privacy and trust.

Tourism & services

Tours, car rental, maintenance or business services: clear packages and a quick quote request.

WhatsApp

From website to WhatsApp chat

Many customers in the Gulf would rather ask a question on WhatsApp than fill in a form. We build that into your site, without orders or requests getting lost.

  • Button per product with a pre-filled message
  • Order summary sent to your WhatsApp
  • Requests also saved in the admin panel
  • Several numbers per branch
Visibility

Found on Google, in Arabic

People in the Gulf search in Arabic, in English and often in a mix of both. We set up your pages, your Google Business Profile and your structured data for the words your customers actually use.

  • Arabic keywords per country and city
  • hreflang for Arabic and English
  • Google Business Profile per branch
  • Fast load times on mobile
Apps

Your own app for iOS and Android

For restaurants, shops and service businesses with regular customers, your own app can do more than a website alone: push notifications for a promotion, faster reordering and a loyalty programme on your customer’s phone.

We build apps for iOS and Android that use the same data as your website. So you manage products, prices and orders in one place, in Arabic and English. We also guide the publication in the App Store and Google Play.

  • One admin panel for website and app
  • Push notifications in Arabic and English
  • Payment with Apple Pay and local cards
  • Publication in the App Store and Google Play

Also active in Saudi Arabia or the UAE?

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates each have their own payment methods, rules and search behaviour. That is why they have their own page with us: read more at /en/website-laten-maken-saoedi-arabie and /en/website-laten-maken-dubai.

Selling in several Gulf states at once? Then we build one site or webshop with the right payment method per country, prices in the local currency and pages per market, so you do not have to maintain a separate website for every country.

One site, several countries

The right payment method, currency and contact number per country, managed from one panel in Arabic and English.

How we work

Working remotely, in your language

We work with video calls, a shared schedule and a test environment you can view on your phone at any time. The time difference with the Gulf is small, so meetings are easy to plan.

01

Video kick-off

We discuss your business, your country, your customers and the payment methods you need. You then receive a clear quote and schedule.

02

Design & build

You approve the design, we build the Arabic and English versions, connect your payment provider and set up WhatsApp and Google Maps.

03

Launch & warranty

After testing your site goes live on your own domain and we walk through the admin panel together. A three-month warranty applies afterwards.

FAQ

Questions about a website in the Gulf

Yes. We are based in Haarlem in the Netherlands, but work for clients worldwide, including the Gulf states. Meetings take place by video call, in Arabic, English or Dutch.

Yes. Arabic is a native language for our team. From the first call to the admin panel walkthrough, everything can be done in Arabic.

The common local method per country: KNET in Kuwait, BenefitPay in Bahrain, NAPS and Himyan cards via QPay in Qatar and OmanNet in Oman, plus Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay. This runs through a payment provider active in that country, with whom you sign the contract.

Usually, yes. Payment providers in the Gulf generally ask for a commercial registration and a bank account in the country. We help with the technical connection and the website documents the provider expects.

Yes, where possible. The requirements differ per country and extension: some need a local trade licence, trademark or contact person. We check this up front and register the domain in your name, with a .com alongside if you like.

A standard website is usually live within 10 to 20 working days. A webshop with local payment methods or an app takes longer, partly because the payment provider has to approve your application; you receive a schedule up front.

That depends on the number of languages, countries, pages and features. After a short call you receive a quote with a fixed price and no hidden costs.
