Websites, webshops and apps
built for Saudi Arabia

A fast website, webshop or app for your business in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam or anywhere else in the Kingdom: Arabic first, English alongside, with mada, Apple Pay and instalment payments, and prepared for ZATCA e-invoicing.

Smart Design is a web agency from Haarlem in the Netherlands with a team whose native language is Arabic. We build custom with Laravel and Vue, with your own admin panel, and work with you through video calls, in Arabic or English.

A fully Arabic process: from first call to launch

The Saudi market

What a Saudi website needs

Saudi customers mostly buy on their phones, expect a site that is genuinely made in Arabic and prefer to pay with mada or Apple Pay. We design for that from the start.

Arabic first, English alongside

A complete right-to-left Arabic version with proper Arabic fonts, plus an English version for expats, visitors and business customers.

Local payment methods

mada, Apple Pay, Visa and Mastercard, STC Bank and instalments through Tabby or Tamara, connected through a local payment gateway.

Ready for ZATCA

Invoices with 15% VAT, a QR code and the data the Saudi tax authority requires, connected to an e-invoicing solution linked to Fatoora.

Hosting that fits the rules

Fast hosting with a CDN for visitors in the Gulf, and where needed storage of personal data in a data centre inside the Kingdom.

Found in Arabic search

Arabic keywords the way people actually type them, a Google Business Profile per branch and fast pages that perform well on mobile.

Apps for iOS and Android

Your own app for ordering, bookings or loyalty, connected to the same database and admin panel as your website.

Digital growth

A market moving online fast

Through Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia is investing heavily in a digital economy: government services are moving online, cash is giving way to cards and phones, and almost the entire population is online. For businesses that means customers search, compare and buy online, and expect the same quality they get from the big players.

Rules come with that. The Saudi e-commerce law asks online stores for clear company details, prices including VAT and shipping, and honest product information. Online stores register with the Saudi Business Center. We build the pages and structure that show this properly; the registration and legal review are handled by you or your adviser.

What we build in for you:

  • Company name, CR number and VAT number visible in the footer
  • Prices including 15% VAT and shipping before checkout
  • Return and cancellation policy as a fixed page
  • Your Saudi Business Center registration displayed
  • All texts editable yourself in the admin panel

One platform, two languages

  • yourcompany.sa/ar — العربية (default)
  • yourcompany.sa/en — English
  • Prices in SAR incl. VAT
  • mada · Apple Pay · Tabby · Tamara
  • App and website share one admin panel
Checkout

Checkout the way Saudi customers pay

In Saudi Arabia, mada, the national payment network, is the foundation. Many customers also pay with Apple Pay on their iPhone, by credit card or with STC Bank, and for larger purchases they often choose instalments through Tabby or Tamara. If mada or Apple Pay is missing at checkout, customers leave quickly.

Because Mollie and iDEAL do not work here, we connect your webshop or app to a local payment gateway such as Moyasar, HyperPay or Tap. You sign the contract with the gateway yourself, in the name of your Saudi business; we handle the technical integration, test every payment method and make sure orders, refunds and payouts are clearly shown in your admin panel.

  • mada as a fixed, visible option
  • Apple Pay on iPhone and in Safari
  • Instalments with Tabby or Tamara
  • Prices and payments in Saudi riyal
  • Order confirmation in Arabic or English

E-invoicing

Invoices that follow ZATCA and Fatoora

In Saudi Arabia, VAT-registered businesses must issue their invoices electronically. In the second phase, ZATCA, the Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, connects your invoicing system to the Fatoora platform: business invoices are cleared in advance, while simplified invoices to consumers are reported afterwards. ZATCA rolls this out in waves and keeps lowering the turnover threshold, so more and more smaller businesses are included.

For your webshop this means every order has to produce a correct invoice. We make sure your shop records the right data and connect it to an e-invoicing solution or accounting package that is linked to Fatoora. Confirm with your accountant when your business is due and exactly what applies; we are web developers, not tax advisers.

  • VAT number and company details on every invoice
  • QR code on simplified invoices
  • Invoices in Arabic, English alongside possible
  • API connection to a Fatoora-linked solution
  • Invoice data exportable for your accountant

An honest comparison

Salla or Zid, or a custom platform?

Salla and Zid are strong Saudi store builders, and the right choice for many new shops. A custom platform pays off once your business goes beyond a standard online store.

A ready-made platform fits when…

  • you are just starting and want to test your idea first
  • you sell a regular range without special rules
  • you want to go live fast for a fixed monthly fee
  • you need no custom integrations or app

A custom build pays off when…

  • you have your own pricing rules, subscriptions or B2B customers
  • you need an integration with an ERP, stock or POS system
  • website, app and back office must be one system
  • you want full control over design, data and cost per order

Not sure? We look together at what you need now. Sometimes the advice is to start with Salla or Zid and move later; then we plan your branding and domain name with that in mind.

Apps & visibility

An app, and being found in Riyadh

In Saudi Arabia the smartphone is the main screen. For restaurants, salons, shops and service businesses, your own app can make the difference: regular customers order or book with one tap, receive push notifications about offers and collect points. We build iOS and Android apps that use the same database and admin panel as your website, so you manage everything in one place.

Being found happens in Arabic. People search in dialect and in Modern Standard Arabic, often adding a district or city. We research those keywords, write pages per service and per city, and set up your Google Business Profile for each branch, so you show up in Google Maps in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam or Makkah.

  • iOS and Android apps from one code base
  • Push notifications, loyalty card and order history
  • Arabic keyword research per city and service
  • Google Business Profile per branch
  • Orders or bookings via WhatsApp as well

Hosting & privacy

Hosting and personal data

Since September 2024 the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) has been fully enforced. It sets rules for processing personal data and for transferring it abroad. We choose the hosting with you: fast through a CDN, and inside the Kingdom when your sector or adviser requires it.

  • Privacy policy in Arabic and English
  • Only ask for the data you need
  • Daily backups
  • SSL and a secured admin area
Domain name

A .sa or .com.sa domain

A Saudi domain shows you are truly active in the local market. For .sa and .com.sa, SaudiNIC usually asks for a Saudi commercial registration (CR) or registered trademark. We help with the application, or start on a .com and add the .sa domain later.

  • Domain always in your company’s name
  • Business email on your own domain
  • .com and .sa pointing to the same site
  • DNS, SSL and email fully arranged
How we work

Working remotely, in your language

We work with video calls, a shared schedule and a test environment you can view on your phone at any time. We take the time difference and the Saudi weekend into account.

01

Video kick-off

We discuss your business, your customers and what the site or app must do. You then receive a clear quote and schedule.

02

Design & build

You approve the Arabic design, we build the site in two languages and connect the payment gateway, invoicing and shipping.

03

Launch & warranty

After testing everything goes live, we submit the site to Google and walk through the admin panel together. A three-month warranty follows.

FAQ

Questions about a website for Saudi Arabia

Yes. We are based in Haarlem in the Netherlands, but work for clients worldwide, including the Gulf states. Meetings take place by video call, in Arabic or English.

Our team speaks Arabic as a native language. We design the site right-to-left, with Arabic fonts and copy that reads naturally, without machine translation.

Through a local gateway such as Moyasar, HyperPay or Tap you can offer mada, Apple Pay, Visa and Mastercard, among others, plus instalments through Tabby or Tamara. Which methods are available depends on your contract with the gateway.

We build your shop so every order produces the right invoice data, and connect it to an e-invoicing solution linked to Fatoora. Which wave and deadline apply to you is something to confirm with your accountant.

For a simple new shop, Salla or Zid are often fine. A custom build pays off when you need your own rules, integrations or an app. We give honest advice, even if that means you do not need us yet.

A standard website is usually live within 10 to 20 working days. A webshop with a payment gateway and invoicing integration, or an app, needs more time; you receive a schedule up front.

That depends on the features, integrations and whether you want an app. After a short call you receive a quote with a fixed price and no hidden costs.
