Web design Kuwait
with KNET and delivery per area

A fast website, webshop or app for your business in Kuwait City, Hawalli, Salmiya, Farwaniya or Ahmadi: Arabic first with English alongside, with KNET, cards and Apple Pay, and a checkout that understands the Kuwaiti address, from area and block to street and house.

Smart Design is a web agency from Haarlem in the Netherlands with a team whose native language is Arabic. We work fully remotely, without an office in Kuwait: through video calls and a shared schedule, in Arabic or English. We build custom with Laravel and Vue, with your own admin panel that you run yourself.

A fully Arabic process, from first call to launch

The Kuwaiti market

What a website in Kuwait needs

Customers in Kuwait buy a lot online, mostly on their phones, and are used to fast, often same-day delivery. They expect a site that works as smoothly as the big apps they use every day.

Arabic first, English alongside

A complete right-to-left Arabic version, plus English for the many residents from other countries who live and work in Kuwait.

KNET as the base

Customers prefer to pay with KNET, using the debit card from their own bank. On top of that: Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay.

The Kuwaiti address

A checkout with area, block, street, jadda (avenue) and house or building number, and delivery fees per area or governorate.

From Instagram to your own shop

Many Kuwaiti brands grew on Instagram. Your own webshop makes ordering organised and sales measurable.

Prices in dinar and fils

The Kuwaiti dinar has three decimals, so prices, discounts and totals are calculated correctly down to the fils.

Apps for iOS and Android

Your own app for orders, bookings or loyalty, connected to the same database as your website. Apps from €3,500.

Growing

From Instagram shop to a real webshop

In Kuwait, countless businesses started with an Instagram account: perfume, abayas, cosmetics, sweets, gifts and home-made products. Ordering happens through direct messages or WhatsApp, payment through a payment link and delivery with your own driver. That works until growth arrives: messages get lost, stock no longer adds up and you cannot see which products really sell.

Your own webshop solves this without losing your followers. Instagram stays your shop window, but the link in your bio leads to a shop where customers choose for themselves, pay with KNET and enter their address. Every order arrives in your admin panel and, if you like, straight away as a WhatsApp notification. Your product catalogue can also be connected to Instagram and Facebook, so you can tag products in your posts.

What changes:

  • Customers order by themselves, even in the middle of the night
  • Stock per product, size and colour
  • No more sending payment links by hand
  • Discount codes for influencers, measured per code
  • Overview of your best-selling products

From bio link to order

  • Instagram post with product tag
  • Link in bio → your webshop
  • Choose size and colour
  • Pay with KNET or Apple Pay
  • Notification on the shop’s WhatsApp

KNET, cards and Apple Pay

KNET is Kuwait’s national payment network and the first choice online for most customers: they are sent to their own bank’s page and confirm the payment with their debit card. Many customers also pay with Visa or Mastercard and, on iPhone, with Apple Pay. Cash on delivery is still requested, especially by new customers who do not know your shop yet.

Mollie and iDEAL do not work in Kuwait. That is why we connect your shop to a payment gateway that supports KNET and operates in Kuwait, such as Tap or MyFatoorah. You sign the contract yourself in the name of your Kuwaiti company; we handle the technical integration, test every payment method and make sure payments, refunds and failed attempts are clearly shown in your admin panel.

  • KNET debit cards from Kuwaiti banks
  • Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay
  • Cash on delivery as an option, possibly only for certain areas
  • Payment links for orders taken by WhatsApp or phone
  • Confirmation in Arabic or English, with invoice

Delivery

Delivering across all six governorates

Kuwait is divided into six governorates: Capital, Hawalli, Farwaniya, Ahmadi, Jahra and Mubarak Al-Kabeer. Delivering to Salmiya costs you something different from a trip to Jahra or Wafra. That is why you set delivery fees and times per area yourself in your admin panel, with free delivery above a certain amount if you wish.

Kuwaiti addresses work with area, block, street, sometimes a jadda (avenue), and a house or building number. We build the checkout exactly that way, with an area list in Arabic and English and an optional pin on the map, so your driver does not need to call. Customers pick a delivery slot, and restaurants and bakeries can accept orders for later in the day.

  • Delivery fees and times per area
  • Address fields: area, block, street, jadda, house
  • Map pin for the driver
  • Delivery slots and orders for later
  • Pick-up in store as an alternative

An honest comparison

Delivery apps and marketplaces, or your own channel?

Delivery apps and marketplaces are very present in Kuwait and bring new customers. Your own channel makes sure your returning customers stay yours.

Apps and marketplaces are strong at…

  • reaching new customers who do not know you yet
  • arranging delivery without your own drivers
  • starting fast without your own technology
  • being visible where people already search

Your own webshop or app gives you…

  • no per-order commission to a platform
  • the data and contact with your own customers
  • your own brand, prices and promotions
  • loyalty points and push notifications for regular customers

Most businesses use both: apps for new customers, and their own shop or app for regulars. For restaurants we built Menuify, our own ordering and POS system designed exactly for that.

Domain name

A .com.kw domain or a .com

A Kuwaiti domain shows you are active locally. A .com.kw usually requires a Kuwaiti commercial licence. Many businesses start with a .com and add the .kw domain later. We handle registration, DNS, SSL and business email.

  • Domain always in your company’s name
  • Business email on your own domain
  • .com and .kw pointing to the same site
  • Daily backups
Trust

Privacy and trust with new customers

Kuwait’s regulator CITRA has rules for protecting personal data. Your site gets a privacy policy, clear terms and a return policy in Arabic and English. Your adviser decides exactly which rules apply; we do not give legal advice.

  • Privacy policy in Arabic and English
  • Only ask for the data you need
  • SSL and a secured admin area
  • Clear return and exchange policy
Apps & visibility

Your own app, and being found on Google

For restaurants, cafés, salons, gyms and shops with regular customers, your own app can pay off: reorder with one tap, collect points and receive a push notification when a new collection or offer arrives. We build iOS and Android apps that use the same database and admin panel as your website. Apps start from €3,500; after a call you receive a quote for your situation.

In Kuwait people mostly search in Arabic, often adding the area: a service plus Salmiya, Jabriya or Fahaheel. We research those keywords, write pages per service and area, and set up your Google Business Profile per branch, with opening hours, photos and a WhatsApp button.

  • iOS and Android apps from one code base
  • Push notifications, loyalty card and order history
  • Arabic keyword research per area
  • Google Business Profile per branch
  • Fast pages that score well on mobile

How we work

Working remotely, in your language

Kuwait is only one to two hours ahead of the Netherlands, so meetings fit easily into your working day. You follow everything through a shared schedule and a test environment.

01

Video kick-off

We discuss your business, your customers and what the site or app must do. You then receive a clear quote and schedule.

02

Design & build

You approve the design in Arabic and English; we build the site and connect KNET, delivery zones and your other systems.

03

Launch & warranty

After testing everything goes live, we submit the site to Google and walk through the admin panel together. A three-month warranty follows.
