Menuify

The challenge

Restaurants often work with a patchwork of separate tools: a printed menu, a separate ordering app that charges commission per order, a till that does not talk to the kitchen and a spreadsheet for VAT. Menuify wanted to replace that patchwork with one platform that any restaurant can start using quickly, without its own technical team, while keeping every restaurant's data strictly separated. ## The solution We built Menuify as a multi-tenant SaaS platform. Every restaurant that signs up gets its own environment with its own subdomain and its own database, and can optionally connect its own domain name. Guests scan a QR code at the table or open the restaurant's ordering page, choose their dishes and pay instantly with iDEAL, after which the order appears right away on the kitchen display. Behind the scenes, the restaurant runs its whole operation from one admin panel: POS, kitchen, reservations, catering, stock, promotions, branches and VAT reports. Subscriptions to the platform itself run automatically through Mollie and PayPal, and the entire platform works in Dutch, English and Arabic, including right-to-left layout. ## Key features - Separate environment per restaurant with its own subdomain, database and optional custom domain - QR menu and table ordering with instant payment via iDEAL - Online ordering for pickup and delivery, with an address check for the delivery area - Point of sale (POS) and kitchen display (KDS) that receive orders instantly - Reservations, catering requests and table management in one place - Stock management, promotions and promo codes - Multiple branches, staff accounts with permissions and VAT reports - Automatic subscription billing through Mollie and PayPal ## Technology The back end is built in Laravel and provides an API through which each restaurant works within its own isolated database. The admin panel, the ordering pages and the kitchen display are built in React. Payments run through Mollie (iDEAL) and PayPal, and all texts are managed in three languages with full RTL support for Arabic. ## Result Menuify now offers restaurants a single platform for their menu, orders, payments and administration. A new restaurant can get started without installing software, guests order and pay without waiting for a waiter, the kitchen sees every order instantly and the owner keeps track of sales, stock and VAT from one dashboard, in the language that suits them.
